About Pulse 212
Pulse 212 brings your Trading 212 portfolio to life. Open it and you know in a second what your money is doing: total value, what is up, what is down, and which holdings are driving the move — today, this week, this month, or all time. A market-heat map, live movers, per-holding charts, percentage alerts, and Home and Lock Screen widgets keep you in touch with your investments without digging through menus.
It is built for Trading 212 Invest and Stocks & Shares ISA investors who want a faster, clearer read on their portfolio. Pulse 212 connects with your own read-only API key, talks directly to Trading 212 from your iPhone, and can never place a trade.

FAQ — Getting Started
What is Pulse 212?
Pulse 212 is an independent iPhone app that shows your Trading 212 portfolio in a movement-first view: what it is worth, how it has changed, and which holdings are responsible. It is a viewer only — it cannot buy, sell, or change anything in your account.
Is Pulse 212 made by Trading 212?
No. Pulse 212 is an independent app and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Trading 212. It uses the official Trading 212 public API with a key that you create and control.
How do I get a Trading 212 API key?
- In the Trading 212 app, tap the account name at the top and choose Invest or Stocks & Shares ISA
- Open the Menu > Settings > API (Beta)
- Tap Generate API key and tick Account data, Portfolio, and History only
- Copy the API key and the API secret — the secret is shown only once
How do I connect my account?
Go to Settings > Accounts > Add Trading 212 account. Give the account a name, choose its type and whether it is Live or Practice (Demo), paste the API key and API secret, and tap Test connection, then Save.
Can I add more than one account?
Yes. Each Trading 212 account (Invest, ISA, Practice) has its own API key, so add each one separately. Pulse 212 then shows them combined, or individually via the account strip on Today and the account menu on Holdings.
Can I try the app without connecting an account?
Yes. Choose Explore with a sample portfolio when you first open the app, or turn on Use sample portfolio in Settings. A SAMPLE badge shows when you are viewing demo data.
Are SIPP accounts supported?
No. The Trading 212 API does not currently support SIPP accounts.
FAQ — Portfolio & Market Data
Where does the data come from?
Your positions, cash, and pies come directly from Trading 212. Price movement and charts come from public market data, because the Trading 212 API does not provide price history. The footer on the Today screen reads "Positions from Trading 212 · movement from market data".
How often does it refresh?
Every minute by default while the app is open. You can choose 30 seconds, 1, 2, or 5 minutes, or manual only, in Settings > Refresh, and pull down on any screen to refresh now. Market data can be slightly delayed, so figures may differ a little from the Trading 212 app at any given moment.
A holding shows no movement or chart.
Occasionally a Trading 212 instrument cannot be matched to a market-data symbol automatically. Set the correct symbol in Settings > Alerts & market data > Market data symbols, or from the Symbol button on the holding's page.
How are currencies handled?
Each account is shown in its own Trading 212 account currency. London-listed shares priced in pence are converted to pounds, and each holding shows the impact of exchange rates on your return.
Why do I only see some of my pies?
To stay within Trading 212's API limits, Pulse 212 loads up to eight pies per account and refreshes them less often than your holdings.
FAQ — Alerts & Widgets
How do I create an alert?
Open the Alerts tab and tap +, or tap Set alert on any holding. Choose the scope (Portfolio, Account, or Stock), the direction (Rises, Falls, or Moves), the period, and a percentage threshold. The preview shows the current move and whether the alert would fire right now.
How are alerts delivered?
As notifications from your iPhone. Pulse 212 checks your alerts whenever it refreshes, including in the background when iOS allows. Each alert fires at most once per period, and fired alerts are listed under Recent.
My alert arrived late.
There is no server watching your portfolio — all checks happen on your iPhone, and iOS decides how often apps may run in the background. Timing is therefore best-effort. Keep Background App Refresh on and open the app regularly for the most timely alerts. Pulse 212 alerts are not intended as trading signals.
Which widgets are available?
- Portfolio pulse — total value, today's move, and an intraday curve, in small, medium, large, and Lock Screen sizes
- Market heat — heat tiles of every holding, in medium and large
- Single stock — follow one holding and period of your choice, in small, medium, and Lock Screen sizes
Touch and hold your Home Screen or Lock Screen, add a widget, and search for Pulse 212.
How often do widgets update?
Roughly every 15 minutes during UK market hours on weekdays, and less often outside them to save battery. Medium and large widgets have a refresh button for an instant update.
FAQ — Security & Privacy
Can Pulse 212 place trades or move money?
No. Pulse 212 is read-only. It only ever requests account, portfolio, and pie information, and contains no ability to place, modify, or cancel orders. For extra peace of mind, create your API key with only the read permissions listed above.
Where are my API keys stored?
In the iOS Keychain on your iPhone. They are only ever sent to Trading 212, over an encrypted connection, to fetch your data.
What data does Pulse 212 collect?
None. There is no IngressVC server involved, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking. Your iPhone talks directly to Trading 212 for your portfolio, and requests price data for the symbols you hold from a public market-data provider (Yahoo Finance). Your keys, balances, and quantities are never sent to the market-data provider. See the Privacy Policy for full details.
How do I remove my account and keys?
Go to Settings > Accounts, tap the account, and choose Remove account. This deletes its keys from the Keychain. You can also revoke the key at any time in the Trading 212 app under Settings > API (Beta).
How do I hide my balances?
Turn on Settings > Display > Hide amounts to mask all money values while still seeing percentage moves.
FAQ — Troubleshooting
Test connection fails.
Check the following:
- The key was generated inside the same account type you selected (Invest or ISA), and the environment matches — Live keys do not work for Practice, and vice versa
- The API key and API secret were pasted in full, with no extra spaces
- The key has the Account data, Portfolio, and History permissions
- If your key was created before 2026 and has no secret, paste it in the API key field and leave the secret empty
I see a "Check your API keys" card.
Pulse 212 has spotted an account with an empty key, or the same key used for two accounts. Each Trading 212 account needs its own key — edit the accounts in Settings > Accounts.
Data is slow to update or I see a rate-limit message.
Trading 212 limits how often its API can be called. Pulse 212 respects those limits automatically and will catch up within a few seconds. Choosing a longer interval in Settings > Refresh can help if you use several apps with the same key.
I am not receiving alerts.
Check Settings > Alerts & market data > Notification permission, make sure Background App Refresh is on in the iOS Settings app, and confirm the alert is switched on in the Alerts tab.
The app crashed or I found a bug.
Please contact us at support@ingressvc.com with:
- Your iPhone model and iOS version
- A description of what happened
- Steps to reproduce the issue if possible
Never send us your API key or secret. We take all bug reports seriously and aim to respond within 48 hours.
